Prior to January 1, 1999 (establishment of the Imperial Information Desk as the Empire's official news source), the Empire kept poor records of noteworthy events. As such, rather than monthly news pages, this page presents a list of some of the newsworthy things which happened before 1999. This is an incomplete list but it is the best reconstruction possible. Prior to 1999, most new citizenships go unrecorded and other details are lost to time. For further information, please visit the Imperial historical records, which list many events not seen here.
1997:

Aerica opens relations with the Mayan Republic (April), Cherusken (May 20), Baja Arizona (May 20), Patria (May 20), Federation Ark, Textor (June), the Minbari Federation(June), the New Worcester Kingdom, Shokandoinia, the Supreme principality of Monastico, Reunion (September), Brunan (September), the Principality Of Zugesbucht (October), Homeland (October 18), Cyberia (November 22), and the Federation of Utopian States (December 18).
New Citizens:
